A former placer Au occurrence/hydraulic mine located in sec. 1, T4N, R13E, MDM, about 3.3 km (2 miles) WNW of Sheep Ranch on the divide between McKinney Creek and Martin Gulch. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a placer Au deposit hosted in gravels. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Production included 41,500 cubic yards of gravel washed during the period 1906 to 1908; 35,000 cubic yards during the period 1910 to 1911. Operation was idle until 1929-1930 period when 3,165 cubic yards were hydraulicked. Idle since.
