A former placer Au occurrence/drift mine located in the NW¼ sec. 11, T4N, R11E, MDM, about 5.35 km (about 3½ miles) NW of San Andreas, along Latimer Gulch, E of the S end of Central Hill. Owned by Margaret Irwin. Operated during the period 1866-1867 and 1899-1901. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
A placer Au deposit located on the Deep Blue Lead and Kraemer paleochannels. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 75 foot deep shaft and a breast 100 feet wide.
Said to have yielded 108 ounces of Au in only 6 days in 1866.
