A placer drift Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 20, T4N, R12E, MDM, 1.4 km (4,500 feet/0.9 mile) SSE of San Andreas. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a placer Au deposit located on the Cental Hill channel. Slate bedrock is capped by 6 feet of pay gravel, 45 to 50 feet of rhyolite and gravel. At the S end of the property, a narrow channel containing barren, unwashed cobbles cuts 36 feet below the main channel. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided) and/or Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 5 shafts 90 to 127 feet deep, 800 feet of drifts, plus 2 long crosscut tunnels.
