A former lode Au mine located in sec. 16, T5N, R13E, MDM, about 6.65 km (4 miles) SSW of Railroad Flat, along a S tributary of Esperanza Creek. Operated prior to and during 1936. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 5,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in mica schist. The ore body is 0.61 meter in thickness. The vein varies from 1 to 2 feet thick. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 36.58 meters and comprised of 65 and 120 foot drifts off a 120 foot deep shaft.
