A former lode Au mine located in the S½ sec. 24, T7N, R13E, MDM, about 5.65 km NNE of Bummerville, N of Skull Flat (4 miles NE of West Point; ¼ mile S of the powerhouse). Active in the early days of the gold rush, 1880's, 1890's, 1921 & 1940-1941. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granite. The ore body strikes N5W and dips 75W at a thickness of 1.22 meters. A series of parallel veins occur on the property with most work done on the maine, or Keltz, vein, which is 1½ to 4 feet thick. There are fine-grained diorite dikes associated with the vein. Ore shoots are 50 & 100 feet in length with abundant sulfides. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Local structures include a fine-grained diorite dike associated with a vein.
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 450 foot E crosscut adit with its portal 100 feet above the Mokelumne River. There are several older adits, drifts andan 80 foot deep shaft.
