A stone deposit located in the W½ sec. 25, T5N, R11E, MDM, about 2.65 km NE of Golden Gate Hill, in Old Woman Gulch, to the N of the Lombardi Ranch (3 miles S of Mokelumne Hill (town)). Operated intermittently during the period 1946 to 1951. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Product used as garden stone, building stone and as terrazzo chips.
The rock is a fine-grained, compact tuff which rests on Eocene quartz gravel. The tuff dips gently SW and ranges from 20 to 60 feet thick. It is pink and purplish-gray in color. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface openings. Thye rock was blasted and hand-trimmed at 3 adjacent pits. The largest pit is 50 feet by 20 feet with a 40 foot face.
