A former placer Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 35, T5N, R11E, MDM, 1.1 km (0.7 mile) SE of Golden Gate Hill (coordinates of record), on the divide between Geers Gulch and Schoolhouse Gulch, N of the Gourley Reservoir or about 2.65 km ESE of Golden Gate Hill, between highway 49 and Chili Gulch (3½ miles S of Mokelumne Hill). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
NOTE: USGS MRDS file #10109152 contains a note: "In Old Woman Gulch; tailings on (map) GQ-222 in SW¼. The section number given is 35, but Old Woman Gulch does not run through sec. 35." The coordinates provided in MRDS file #10163145 place the locality in sec. 35. The coordinates provided in file #10109152 place it in sec. 36, along Chili Gulch, just S of the southern terminus of Old Woman Gulch.
Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
