A former lode Au mine located in sec. 1, T3N, R14E, MDM, 1.8 km (1.1 miles) WSW of Stanislaus (Tuolumne County) (5 miles E of Murphys). Operated in the 1890's and during the period 1938 to 1942. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in mica schist. The ore body forms lenses and veins at a thickness of 2.44 meters. Two parallel veins occur 3 to 8 feet apart with crushed schist between them. The footwall is well-defined while the hanging wall is not so well defined for any great distances. Branching and interconnecting veinlets may unite to form the vein up to 8 feet thick. High grade pockets were encountered. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
