A Fe-mineral pigment deposit located in sec. 3, T4N, R10E, MDM, 0.3 km (0.2 mile) W of Campo Seco proper. Long idle. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a body of decomposed slate, stained by iron oxide, which proved to be a durable paint. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Miocene nonmarine rocks.
