A former lode Au mine located in sec. 27, T5N, R13E, MDM, 3.0 km (1.9 miles) NNE of Mountain Ranch, on/near the N side of Murray Creek (in/near Mexican Gulch). Operated in the early 1930's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with a vein 6 to 30 inches wide, hosted in slate. The ore body strikes W and dips N at a thickness of 0.76 meter. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 175 foot N crosscut adit with 50 feet of drifts to the N & S, plus a 40 foot vertical winze at the end of the crosscut.
