A former lode Au mine located in sec. 28, T3N, R13E, MDM, 1.3 km (0.8 mile) ENE of Altaville, N of Bald Hill (1¾ miles E of Angels Camp). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
NOTE: USGS MRDS file #10284718 presents geographic coordinates which place this locality in sec. 28, in agreement with the description of its location. MRDS file #10102713 presents coordinates placing the locality further W in secs. 30 &/or 31. To account for the discrepancy, this latter file states that the mine is in all the sections involved in the description and by the coordinates, which is not feasible due to the distances involved and the fact that the sections are not all contiguous. Obviously, the data presented in file #10284718 is more credible.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range) and/or Undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
