A former lode Au mine located in the SW¼ sec. 7, T4N, R12E, MDM, 2.2 km (1.4 miles) NW of San Andreas. Operated prior and during the 1890's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Amador Group (slate, amphibolite). The ore body strikes NW and dips NE at a thickness of 6.1 meters. The vein is from 2 to 20 feet thick. The footwall is black slate and the hanging wall is amphibolite. There are also several E-sticking veins, with development work on them. Coarse white quartz outcrops at surface. Local rocks include Paleozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada Foothills) and/or Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground ope nings with an overall depth of 149.96 meters. Developed by a 110 foot and a 492 foot shafts which connect to a 500 foot adit on the 192 foot level and a 200 foot drift on the 100 level.
