A placer Au occurrence/mine located in the E½ of sec. 30, T3N, R10E, MDM, 3.9 km (2.4 miles) WSW of Jenny Lind, N of the Calaveras River. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a former placer Au occurrence/dredge mine. The gravel is well-rounded, 5 to 20 feet thick and overlies light gray tuff. Contained 25 (?) per cubic yard of fine, flaky Au. Local rocks include Miocene nonmarine rocks.
Workings included surface dredging operations. A bucket dredge operated during the period 1936 to 1937. A 1 cubic yard capacity power shovel moved by 27 buckets with 1½ cubic feet capacity, washed by an 18 foot trommel and 192 square feet of riffles.
