A former lode Au mine located in the SE¼ sec. 1, T3N, R13E, MDM, 1.1 km (0.7 mile) E of Soapstone Hill (coordinates of record) and about 3 km (1¾ miles) W of Murphys, N of Angels Creek. Operated prior to 1894 and in 1894, 1895, 1897, 1932 and 1942. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in mica schist and quartzite. Granite dikes accompany all veins. The veins are small but rich. Fissures have a branching tendency. The dike rock at times appears to cut the quartz out entirely. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 215 foot shaft and a 50 foot drift with a 120 foot crosscut tunnel driven into the vein. A 300 foot drift run on the vein encountered caved ground in an old shaft.
No production record found.
