A former placer drift Au occurrence/mine located in the SE¼ sec. 32, T3N, R14E, MDM, 0.9 km (0.6 mile) SE of Moaning Cavern and 2.9 km (1.8 miles) SSE of Vallecito (adjacent to the Balalava Mine). Owned by C. H. and Lillian Pate. Operated prior to 1915. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a placer Au deposit located on the Cataract paleochannel. Local rocks include Limestone of probable Paleozoic or Mesozoic age.
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 100 foot shaft and a 300 foot tunnel.
