A former placer hydraulic Au occurrence/mine located in the NE¼ sec. 14, T3N, R14E, MDM, about 4.65 km SSW of Stanislaus (Tuolumne County), along Cataract Gulch near its confluence with the Stanislaus River (3 miles E of Douglas Flat). Operated in the 1870's, 1890's and early 1900's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range) and/or Limestone of probable Paleozoic or Mesozoic age.
Workings include surface openings comprised of hydraulic pits. The W pit is 40 feet deep and 75 feet in diameter. The E pit is 75 feet deep and 150 feet in diameter.
