A former lode Au mine located in the SE¼ sec. 22, T5N, R12E, MDM, about 5 km N of Mountain Ranch (5 miles S of Railroad Flat; N of Jesus Maria Creek). Operated in the mid-1930's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granite and slate. The ore body strikes N80E and dips 70NW at a thickness of 2.13 meters. The vein has a slate footwall and a granite hanging wall. The gold in the ore is practically all free, with only a very small amount in sulfides. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 4 adits, each above the other. No. 1 adit is 300 feet long; No. 2 is 125 feet long; No. 3 is 350 feet; and No. 4, the uppermost, being 200 feet long. Adits No. 3 & 4 have 90 and 45 foot raises, respectively.
