A former Cr mine located in the NW¼NW¼ sec. 9, T1N, R13E, MDM, 2.3 km (1.4 miles) ESE of Mountain Top (coordinates of record), along an unnamed tributary of Bean Gulch (1,100 feet NW of the Mayflower Mine, about half way up the NW slope from the bottom of Bean Gulch). Operated during WWI. No work done since that time. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
The deposit consists of a few small pods of massive chromite in gray serpentine. The ore is black, nearly pure, medium-grained chromite containing minor amounts of kammererite. Numerous small veins of magnesite and opal cut the surrounding serpentine. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 3 small open cuts and a drift.
production information: About 10 tons containing 45% Cr2O3.
