A Mn occurrence located in the SE¼ sec. 12, T3N, R13E, MDM, 0.7 km (0.5 mile) ENE of La Honda Park, along Angels Creek, and 2½ miles W of Murphys. Discovered in 1917. Owned by George Carley, California (1974). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

The ore body strikes N65W and dips 65NE at a thickness of 1.37 meters and a length of 4.57 meters. A bed of massive metachert contains Mn oxides and partially oxidized reddish-brown Mn garnet. It is 1 to 4.5 feet thick and is exposed for a length of 15 feet. It lies in sericite schist of the Calaveras Formation. The Mn oxide is low-grade, consisting mainly of psilomelane, with cores and patches of limonite and much silica. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).

Workings include surface and underground openings. A pit was dug during WWI at 5 feet diameter and 3 feet deep. A tunnel was more recently started below the pit but was not driven far enough to strike the ore bed.
