A former lode Au mine located in sec. 24, T2N, R13E, MDM, 0.3 km (0.2 mile) SSW of the former Melones town site (now inundated), and about 2.4 km S of Carson Hill (town) (at Robinson's Ferry along the Stanislaus River), on private (patented) land, now under the administration of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (New Melones Reservoir). The property contained 17 patented claims. Operated during the early 1890's, 1913 to 1920. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. This property is also now apparently inundated beneath the reservoir.

Mineralization is hosted in amphibolite and schist. The ore body is lenticular in form with stringers. It strikes NW and dips 65NE at a thickness of 6.1 meters. The vein, at 6 to 12 feet thick, is possibly the main strand of the Mother Lode. Many strands of the vein often gave high assays. Over 1,500 samples were taken from trenches. The ore zone averagted 7 feet in width with sugary crushed quartz with schist casing the best ore. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).

Workings include surface and underground openings. A glory hole developed at surface. There is a 1,400 feet N adit, a 600 foot deep shaft, extensive trenching over the claim areas. Extensively developed by winzes, drifts and E-W crosscuts. There was stoping from several levels.

Production data are found in: Logan, Clarence August and Franke, H. (1936).

Analytical data results: Sulfides averaged 2% content of ore. Ore averaged $3 to $68 (period values) Au/ton.
