A former lode Au mine located in sec. 1, T3N, R13E, MDM, 0.9 km (0.6 mile) NNE of Soapstone Hill and 1.5 km (0.9 mile) SSW of Murphys. Operated pre-1890, 1894, and around 1914. Prospected in the 1930's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in mica schist and slate. The ore body strikes W and dips 60 to 80S at a thickness of 0.91 meter. There are at least 2 parallel veins, which, at surface, are 140 feet apart. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 33.53 meters, and comprised of a 275 foot crosscut adit in 1894. Also a 300 foot shaft and 600 feet of drifts, with levels at 100, 200 and 300 feet.
The ore is free-milling.
