A former lode Au mine located in the SE¼ (estimated) sec. 24, T4N, R13E, MDM, about 4 km SSW of Sheep Ranch, along the S side of San Antonio Creek. Operated in 1882 and during the period 1933 to 1938. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in mica schist. The ore body strikes W and dips N at a thickness of 0.91 meters. Two parallel veins average 2 feet in thickness. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 38.1 meters and comprised of a 125 shaft which was being deepened in 1936, and a 150 foot SE adit, which was being driven to contact the vein's original workings, and include a 500 foot drift on the vein.
