A former Au-Zn-Pb mine located in sec. 22, T6N, R14E, MDM, 3.8 km (2.3 miles) ENE of Fuchs, along a tributary of the Licking Fork Mokelumne River (N of Licking Fork Mokelumne River; 10 miles SE of West Point). Property is comprised of 2 patented claims and other patented land. Production years were prior to 1880, 1889-1914, 1918-1935, and 1941-1942. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in slate and schist. The ore body strikes N18W and dips 70W at a thickness of 1.52 meters. Four veins with the most prominent 2 being called the Black Wonder vein and Eureka vein. The walls of the veins are hard siliceous Calaveras slate and mica schist. The veins average 2 feet in thickness. These are well-defined fissure veins. Sulfides are abundant. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 64.01 meters. The vein was stoped 800 feet on strike above the upper adit. A 900 foot adit was driven and a 210 foot shaft was sunk.
Production data are found in: Logan, Clarence August (1921); and in Clark, Wm. B. & P.A. Lydon (1962).
Active intermittently during the period 1889 to 1914. Dump material was tested in 1954. Pb was recovered from sulfide concentrates 1919 to 1942. No production record was found.
Analytical data results: 42% Fe sulfides; 9% Pb sulfides; 1 to 2% Zn sulfide.
