A former lode Au mine located in the SE¼ sec. 19, T6N, R13E, MDM, 0.5 km (0.3 mile) NE of Glencoe. Operated during the 1870's, 1887, and the mid 1930's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in mica schist and granodiorite. The ore body strikes N and dips 90 at a thickness of 0.61 meter. Another vein strikes E and intersects the (principal ?) vein 200 feet N of the shaft. The footwall is mica schist and the hanging wall is granodiorite. The vein on the 200 foot level is 8 to 12 inches (20 to 30 cm) thick. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include unserground openings comprised of an inclined shaft which starts at 70 degrees but is almost flat at bottom, with levels at 80, 140 and 200 feet. The 80 foot level has a 112 foot N drift and a short S drift. The 140 level has a N drift while the 200 level has a 200 foot N drift.
Production data are found in: Logan, Clarence August and Franke, H. (1936); Clark, Wm. B. & P.A. Lydon (1962).
The ore is base and free-milling. Some ore was taken from the 200 level.
