A former drift and hydraulic placer Au occurrence/mine located in the NW¼SE¼ sec. 32, T3N, R14E, MDM, 2.9 km (1.8 miles) SSE of Vallecito, on Table Mountain, along the Parrotts Ferry Road and E of Wades Flat (about 3 miles by road S of Vallecito). Property consisted of 80 acres. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Local rocks include Limestone of probable Paleozoic or Mesozoic age.
Mineralization is a placer Au deposit reported to be located on the Cataract (Table Mountain) channel, which extends southeastward into Tuolumne County. There is a 30 foot paystreak in soft gravel which yielded $3 (period values) per carload.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of an old 400 foot inclined shaft, with a level at 375 feet, from which an old drift was run about 100 feet SW. Property was hydrauklicked prior to 1896. and drifted during the period 1896 to 1900. Drifting showed the ground is rich but idle; faulted.
