A former Au-Ag-Mo mine located in sec. 33, T3N, R13E, MDM, ¼ mile W of Angels Camp. Operated in the 1850's, 1888, 1896, and 1920 to 1936. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in schist and amphibolite. The ore body strikes 54-60E and dips NE at a thickness of 11.28 meters. The deposit is a series of veins of similar attitude with mineralized schist. Both walls are schist and molybdenite was found with sulfides at the Hale Mine. Three veins are cut off below surface by a fault which strikes parallel to the veins. Local rocks include Undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).

Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 152.4 meters. The Benson shaft is 500 feet deep at an incline of 78 degrees with levels No. 1 at 50 feet, No. 2 at 135 feet, No. 5 at 423 feet, with several thousand feet of drifts and crosscuts. The 140 foot verticle Smyth shaft has levels at 84 asnd 130 feet with over 1,500 feet of drifts and crosscuts.

Local strutures include a fault which dips at surface about 23E; at 200 feet of depth the dip is about 40E.

Production data are found in: Clark (1962).

Ore asveraged $9 to $11 per ton (petriod values). Au was worked in the 1930's froma 6 foot wide vein.
