A former lode Au mine located in sec. 28, T4N, R13E, MDM, 1.4 km (0.9 mile) NNW of Esmeralda site, SSW of the Fricot Ranch School. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate and schist. The ore body strikes W and dips N at a thickness of 0.46 meter. A 1½ foot thick vein of ribbon quartz has a mica schist hanging wall and a black slate footwall. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 152.4 meters and an overall depth of 106.68 meters, comprised of a 500 foot adit (topo map reflects a single shaft symbol only).
The ore is free-milling ribbon quartz.
