A Cr-PGE (Ru-Rh-Pt-Ir-Pd) occurrence located 2.8 km (9,000 feet) WNW of High Plateau Mountain (coordinates of record). Unsurveyed. Located in Six Rivers National Forest. UTM given is for PGE sample locality. Lat/Long coordinates given are for nearby adit symbol; UTM 4641630N, 420590E.
Mineralization is a podiform chromite deposit (Deposit model: 15: Podiform chromite (minor)), hosted in dunite. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains). Associated rock type is plutonic rock, ultramafic intrusive rock, peridotite
(Rock unit name Josephine Ophiolite).
Related tectonic structures include the Klamath Mountains Accreted Terrane - Western Jurassic Belt.
Analytical data for PGE sample: Results for 1 PGE analysis: Pt = 47 PPB; Pd = trace; Ir = 140 PPB; Ru = 280 PPB; and Rh = 27 PPB.
