A former W mine located in sec. 21, T8N, R22E, MDM, 4.7 km (2.9 miles) E of Mineral Mountain, on National Forest land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated (irrelevent in view of following note).
NOTE: Both relevent MRDS database files contain a gross error in reporting the geographic coordinates for this locality. They present the values of 38.664910N, 119.723770W. These values place this locality in the middle of the Monitor-Mogul District, inconsistent with the T&R values presented in the same files, and the description of the locality. Research of the coordinates for the center of sec. 21 (38°31'35"N, 119°33'57"W) revealed that the sec. presented is correct for the description of the locality. Using those coordinates, it revealed the presence of a prospect symbol on the topo map within about 1,000 feet, along Snodgrass Creek, on the lower SW slope of hill 8657T, fitting the description of this locality. The coordinates for that prospect are presented in this file.
Mineralization is a contact metasomatic W deposit hosted in skarn (tactite), granodiorite, schist, quartzite and pyroxenite. The tactite deposit is on a contact zone between granodiorite on the W and schist and quartzite on the E., also pyroxenite and limey quartzite. The ore is disseminated scheelite.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of 3 open pits and a short adit.
