A former placer Au mine (hydraulic) located in the NE¼NE¼ sec. 24, T21N, R3E, MDM, 1.4 km (4,500 feet) ENE of Sausage Mountain, along Dry Creek (1½ miles N of Pentz). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a layer of coarse, angular gravel resting on slates of Paleozoic age; 10 to 15 feet thick and presumably containing most of the gold. Local rocks include Eocene nonmarine rocks, unit 1 (Northern and Central California) and/or Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 6 (Northwestern Sierra Nevada).
