A Cr occurrence/mine located in the E½SW¼ sec. 30 and in sec. 31, T22N, R5E, MDM, 3.2 km (2.0 miles) E of Parkhill, and 6.3 km (3.9 miles) SSW of Big Bar Mounain, on the divide between the North Fork Feather River and China Gulch, on National Forest land (located claim). Discovered by J. A. Clark, Yankee Hill, California. Owned by the Southern Pacific Land Co. (owned section). Operated by B. D. Krumlauf, Spokane, Washington (1941) (leased 40 acres from Southern Land Pacific Co., California (1976)). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500-1,000 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in dunite and serpentinite. The ore body is lenticular and podiform, disseminated, strikes NE and dips 60SE, at a thickness of 3.05 meters and a length of 121.92 meters. The primary mode of origin was magmatic differentiation. Primary ore control was lithology. Wallrock alteration is local and involves carbonitization. Alteration is also dunite thoroughly serpentinized and altered to talc, also some silicification. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains) and/or Paleozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 3 (Northwestern Sierra Nevada).

Workings include surface openings, which consisted (1941) of 2 small open cuts and/or 4 shallow trenches.

Production information: Low Cr:Fe ratios from concentrates have discouraged prospective operations and no ore has been shipped from this deposit.

Two samples of ore analyzed were found to contain 29.81% and 27.99% Cr2O3 and 11.66% and 12.84% Fe. Concentrates of the same samples contained 42.45% and 42.40% Cr2O3; 15.50% and 14.90% Fe and Cr: Fe ratios of 1.88 and 1.93.
