A former lode Au mine located in sec. 11, T19N, R6E, MDM (UTM estimated. Location estimated from description in reference), 0.4 km (1,400 feet) WNW of Forbestown, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
NOTE: There are insufficient data to attribute this property as the Shakespeare Mine, a part of the Forbestown Consolidated Gold Mines.
Mineralization is hosted in syenite and greenstone. The ore body strikes N-S and dips 80W. Local rocks include Mesozoic gabbroic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 250 foot deep shaft with some drifts.
Production data are found in: Miner, C.R. (1890).
Production information: Several hundred tons of ore were extracted prior to 1890. No specific production record was found.
