A former lode Au mine located in the S½SW¼ sec. 2, and in the N½NW¼ sec. 11 (estimated), T19N, R6E, MDM, 1.3 km (4,300 feet) NNW of Forbestown, along Forbestown Ravine, on National Forest land. Owned by Hariet Lewis, Forebestown, California. Operated by Hariet Lewis, Forbestown, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
MRDS database note: Original record had no geographic coordinates; these coordinates were derived from the PLSS description provided.
The ore body is lenticular at a thickness of 0.61 meters. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a series of adits and raises connecting with the surface. There were a few small stopes. The lowest adit at 1,038 feet long runs S20W, 395 feet below surface on dip at the face. A 220 foot raise is near the face. There is also a crosscut 400 feet long.
Production data are found in: Logan (1930).
Production information in MRDS files is discrepant: One file states "No other production record found," while another states "A small stope near the portal is stated to have plated $8 a ton (of Au) (period values) in former operations.
