A former Cr mine located on E edge of SE¼ sec. 27 (34 ? - see note) T22N, R4E, MDM, 1.4 km (4,500 feet) NW of Parkhill and 3.1 km (1.9 miles) NNE of Yankee Hill, along a tributary of Dark Canyon. Owned by Charles and William Hendricks (1917). Operated by Western Ores Co. (1917). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 to 1,000 meters.
NOTE: MRDS file #10043388 places this locality in sec. 34; however, MRDS file #10095073 contains an entry clarifying the correct location: "This apparently is correct location for the Hendricks Mine listed for sec. 34 in DOM Bulletin 76, p. 118. There is also a lode prospect (Au) in the SE¼NW¼ of the sec. (DOM Bulletin 184, Pl. 1); Cherokee quadrangle, assumed spot center SE¼ sec. 27.
The ore body is lenticular, strikes N45W, dips 80 NE, at a thickness of 1.52 meters, a depth-to-bottom of 9.14 meters, and a length of 12.19 meters. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 6 (Northwestern Sierra Nevada).
Workings include surface openings with an overall depth of 6.1 meters, overall length of 30.48 meters and an overall width of 1.52 meters. The workings (1953) consisted of an open cut with the above dimensions and a winze 14 feet deep near the center of the cut.
Production data are found in: Rynearson, Garn Arthur (1953): 280.
Approximately 1 ton of ore was mined in 1918.
