A former lode Au-Cu-Pb mine located in the SE¼SW¼ sec. 35, T20N, R6E, MDM (several locations), 3.1 km (1.9 miles) N of Forbestown, along the South Fork Feather River. Owned by William Denman, San Francisco, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in amphibolite and mica schist. The ore body is ribbon-like in form, strikes NE, E, and dips 60NW, and consists of three veins: Carlisle, Big Betsy and Indian Gulch. The deposit lies on the contact between country rock, which strikes NE. Associated rocks include diorite. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings. The South Fork Feather River has cut a deep canyon across the south half of the claim, making conditions favorable for prospecting the Carlisle vain by adits. A winze 200 feet deep with 3 drifts, 100-110 feet long, trend NE; and one 315 feet long trend SW on the vein. Vein prospected for 425 feet on the 200 level. The adit from which the winze was sunk is on the north bank near river level, and the SW drift was carried under water. There is a 300 foot adit on the Big Betsy vein. The Indian Gulch vein was only slightly developed.

Production information: Some ore was milled from the Carlisle vein. No record exists for the Big Betsy vein. The Indian Gulch vein is said to have produced 90 tons, which plated $10/ton (period values). No specific production records were found.
