A former lode Au group of claims/mine located in sec. 16 (UTM accurate. Reference places mine in sec. 10; MRDS file #10190404 places it in sec. 21), T19N, R6E, MDM, 3.2 km (2.2 miles) SW of Forbestown, along the Yuba County line. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
NOTE: The cited MRDS file identifies this locality as lying in Butte County. The T&R value of sec. 16 places this locality in Yuba County. The cited MRDS database file likewise states that it is in Yuba County under the "Geographic context: Political divisions (FIPS codes)" section. The Montana TRS database (http://www.esg.montana.edu/cgi-bin/trs-data) states that the Bootjack Mine is located in Yuba County.

The ore body is 4.57 meters thick. Some gold occurred in the free state. Local rocks include Mesozoic gabbroic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 120 foot shaft and a 15 foot drift on the 100 level.
