A placer Au occurrence located in the NW¼NW¼ sec. 20, T18N, R5E, MDM, 4.0 km (2.5 miles) WNW of Bangor, along Honcut Creek. Owned and operated by Lowell Thomas, California (1990). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a placer Au deposit hosted in gravels. The gravel-covered area is from ½ mile to 1 mile wide on the surface and reaches an elevation of 1000 feet. Where worked in the old mines, the channel was about 80 feet wide in the deeper part, where the gravel is cemented, and 300 feet wide in the upper part. Local rocks include Eocene nonmarine rocks, unit 1 (Northern and Central California).
Workings include surface and underground openings. In 1930 a shaft was sunk to a depth of 84 feet.
