A Au-Cu occurrence located in the NE¼ (UTM estimated) sec. 35, T21N, R4E, MDM, 4.3 km (2.6 miles) ESE of Cherokee, along the eastern shore of Oroville Lake. Owned and operated by J. F. Garrette Woodland, Ca. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a Au-Cu replacement deposit hosted in amphibolite and schist. The ore body strikes N20W and dips 50E. Alteration is local and involves kaolinization. Controls for ore emplacement included joints. The schist was derived from igneous porphyry.
Workings include underground openings comprised of 3 adits, 2 raises and a sub-level. The No. 1 adit is 100 feet long; No. 2 adit, open cut and adit is 125 feet long, driven N60E; No. 3 adit at 600 feet long has an inclined winze 40 feet from the portal, which connects with a sub-level 120 feet deeper.
Analytical data results: The ore averaged over $6.00 in free gold (period values) and the entire distance of the crosscut averaged $2.50 to $3 a ton (period values).
