A placer Au occurrence/dredge mine located in sec. 15 (and/or sec. 14), T8N, R11E, MDM, 0.3 km (0.2 mile) NNE of River Pines, along the South Fork Consumnes River, on private land. Operated during 1940 and from January 1 to June 12, 1941. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10,000 meters. Near Aukum (El Dorado County). Location very uncertain. The only tailings on the topo map are in sec. 13 (El Dorado County).
Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings included surface dredge operations. A dragline dredge was employed.
This operation was the most productive dragline dredge in the county in 1940. In 1941, the yield from 300,000 cubic yards of gravel was 1,380 ounces of Au and 192 ounces of Ag.
