A former lode Au-Cu-Zn mine located in the SE¼ sec. 32, T7N, R12E, MDM, 1.0 km (0.6 mile) WSW of Pine Grove. Discovered in 1938. Operated by W. F. Peterson. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters. This mine adjoins the Peterson Mine and probably is the working shown in the SE¼SE¼ of the section on the USGS quadrangle map (Pine Grove, California, 1949). Work was initiated by Peterson in 1938. The property was leased in 1946 by H.P. Livingston, who worked it until 1948.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate. The ore body strikes E and dips 55S at a thickness of 0.91 meter. Quartz vein varies from a few inches to 3 feet in thickness. Free gold is associated with minor sulfides. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of an inclined shaft 187 feet deep on the vein. 200 feet of drifts were driven on the 60 foot level plus several hundred feet of drifts driven on the 120 foot level.
Livingston reported that in the later 1930's, %5,000 (period values) of Au was produced. He also reported 800 tons of $27.00 (period values) per ton ore was blocked out at the 60 foot level.
