A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 27, T7N, R13E, MDM, 2.6 km (1.6 miles) S of Barton (about 8 miles SE of Volcano along the W ridge, North Fork Mokelumne River), on private land. Property consists of 3 lode claims and 1 placer claim. Operated by the Levaggi Estate Co. (J. Esola, Agent). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granodiorite. The ore body strikes N and dips 45W. The quartz vein averages 3 feet (0.91 meter) in thickness and 100 feet in length. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 1,450 foot adit and a 100 foot winze on the ore shoot.
