A former lode Au mine located in sec. 34, T8N, R13E, MDM, 4.2 km (2.6 miles) N of Mount Crossman (coordinates of record) and 5.3 km (3.3 miles) N of Barton, about 600 meters S of the South Fork Cosumnes River (El Dorado County line), W of Ashland Creek and NNW of Inspiration Lodge (about 4 miles S of Volcano), on private land. Operated by George Andrews. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
NOTE: Both USGS MRDS files present essentially the same geographic coordinates placing this mine in section 34; however, MRDS file #10028368 presents a T&R value placing it in sec. 32, which is probably in error.
Mineralization is a quartz vein deposit hosted in granodiorite. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 125 foot shaft and a 200 foot adit on the vein.
