A Au occurrence/prospect located in the S½ sec. 6, T6N, R11E, MDM, 1.2 km (0.8 mile) NNW of Sutter Creek (town), NE of the Amador County High School (on the southern slope and ridge dividing western sheds of Sutter and Amador Creeks), on private land. Operated by Helen Crotty. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in diorite and slate. The ore body strikes N and dips E. The hanging wall is diorite and the footwall is slate. Rich quartz veins occur in the hanging wall, dipping W toward the contact. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of several shafts at 20 to 45 feet deep. Abandoned due to the hardness of greenstone or the pinching out of the quartz veins. One shaft is 100 feet deep with a 100 foot crosscut in the footwall, intersecting a gouge channel 10 feet thick, about 10 feet from the shaft.
