A limestone deposit located in secs. 5, 6 & 7, T7N, R12E, MDM, about 6 km ESE of Fiddletown, on the divide between the South Fork and the Deadman Fork Dry Creek (12½ miles NE of Martell railroad station by road), on private land. Operated by the Pacific Portland Cement Co. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. The company has 520 acres and contains a large part of the large and irregular outcrops on the old McCormick Ranch.
The deposit is partially covered by andesite and gravel and partly by soil. Local rocks include limestone of probable Paleozoic or Mesozoic age.
There are many outcrops on the area and it would yield many millions of tons but due to the distance from the railroad, it may be many years before it is developed.
An analysis in 1943 gave 95.31% CaCO3.
