A limestone/rhyolite (?) deposit located in secs. 17 & 18, T7N, R12E, MDM, 1.1 km (0.7 mile) E of Racheria and about 6 km WNW of Volcano, on private land. Operated by Elmer Evans, Jr. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. The deposit starts in the center of section 18 and extends NE into section 17.
According to Mr. Evans, during the 1880's and 1890's, rhyolite from this deposit was quarried as a building stone for various buildings in the county.
Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
