A clay occurrence/prospect located in sec. 32, T6N, R10E, MDM, 2.1 km (1.3 miles) WSW of Sunnybrook, on private property (lies S of the Ione-Jackson highway at the point where it crosses the railroad, 1.5 miles E of Ione). Property is 80 acres. Owned by Mrs. C. Ecklund (1927). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. The property was once worked by a Mr. Dennison of Ione, but was idle in 1927. Location approximate.
NOTE: The geographic coordinates provided in both USGS MRDS database files place this locality in sec. 33, SSW of Sunnybrook; however, the files agree that it lies in sec. 32. Furthermore, the description of the location in file #10028086 (relationship to highway and railroad) can only be fulfilled in sec. 32. The coordinates provided in this Mindat file are for the proximate location in accordance with that description.
Almost the entire property is covered with an overburden of volcanic breccia and insufficient prospecting has been done to determine the extent and character of the underlying clay beds. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface openings comprised of an open pit.
