A former Cr occurrence/mine located in secs. 27 & 28, T6N, R10E, MDM, 0.9 km (0.6 mile) NNE of Sunnybrook (about ½ mile N of the Ione-Jackson highway; very near the sections' common boundary), on private land. Owned by George Allen (1953). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of 2 shafts at 12 and 30 feet deep, plus a shallow cut.
There is a recorded production of 63 long tons of chromite. Leased by C. B. Johnson during WWI, who mined about 20 tons of ore. The property is said to be worked out, although some ore is exposed in the bottoms of the workings.
