A former Mn occurrence/mine located in the SW¼SW¼SW¼ sec. 4, T5S, R4E, MDM, 7.0 km (4.3 miles) ESE of Cedar Mountain, along the headwaters area of Callahan Gulch, on county owned land (located claim - fee ownership). Discovered in 1917. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters. This deposit was first explored in 1917 and again in 1945. The workings (caved in 1947) are 300 yards S of Charles Scott's house.
The ore body strikes N45W and dips 65N. Sandstone and shale enclose a few stray blocks of impure Mn oxides. Local rocks include rocks of the Franciscan melange.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of an open cut 60 feet long and 15 feet wide plus an adit.
A little ore was said to have been produced.
