A silica occurrence/prospect located in sec. 25 & in the NW¼NW¼ 26, T3S, R3E, MDM, 2.0 km (1.3 miles; 6,600 feet) WNW of Tesla, along Arroyo Seco. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
An abandoned locality. May have been worked during the period 1901-1906. One prospect is located in the NW¼ sec. 26. The other is located near the center of the NW¼ sec. 25. The mining of glass sand in this area has been held back by the more ready accessibility and higher quality of the white sands near Mount Diablo and the importation of high quality glass sand as ballast in ships from the Netherlands.
Local rocks include Miocene marine rocks.
