A Mn occurrence located in sec. 17, T2S, R3E, MDM, 1.8 km (1.1 miles; 7,900 feet) NNW of Altamont. Discovered in 1942. Owned by the Dyer Estate, California (1974). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

Irregular pebbles of hard manganese oxide occur in soil in a roughly linear belt, that is ½ mile long, 100 feet wide, and dips gently E. The pebbles are irregular in shape, averaging 1½ inches (3.75 cm) in diameter, and consisting of interlacing veins of psilomelane in a soft, rusty-colored, limy matrix. The surface of the ore consists of tiny radiating needles of well-crystallized pyrolusite. Half a mile E of the main occurrence of the pebbles is a bed of limestone and shaly limestone conglomerate among the pebbles of which are a few pebbles off white chert and manganese oxide and may be the source of the pebbles farther W. Thea manner of occurrence indicates the prospect has little economic value. Local rocks include Upper Cretaceous marine rocks, unit 1 (Upper Great Valley Sequence).
No production. It is doubtful if more than 5 tons of ore averaging 30-35% Mn can be found on the property.
